The name of the hotel originates from Elias Jenkel’s son Wesset, a Jewish man who owned the villa after its completion in 1928. In 1904, Elias Wesset established the chocolate, cocoa and confectionary factory „Progress” in Pärnu, on Malmö Street.
This factory won several prizes on various exhibitions, signifying the good quality of the factory’s products.
In 1940, the confectionary factory was nationalised and after the war, the buildings of the industrial complex of Pärnu (nowadays Viisnurk) were located there, later on also dormitory, engineers’ building, rationalisers, book association and, in modern times, various stores.
A hundred years later, the name of one of the most famous confectionary industries is starting to slip into forgotten oblivion, but here and now, the history will be changed …
